Default When should a person use the services of a travel agency?

The internet has all the info one would need, or does it? I just saw a travel agency open up an office in a new strip mall, so I'm just wondering.

When he/she wants to give up a commission for something he/she could easily accomplish oneself.

For maybe seniors or people who dont have or are not comfortable on the computer. Some people prefer to actually have someone do the work for them, ask questions they may not know about some areas, it all depends. I started planning a trip on my own, got a bit over whelmed as it was more then one country I wanted to visit, contacted a travel agent and I ended up still doing some of the work myself. She gave us B&B vouchers and some of them were for B&B's that only had single beds and that doesnt work for a group of 4, but travel agents are still needed by people who just would rather have a actual person do the work and handle all the things that go along with booking a trip

There is still a large segment of the population who is not comfortable making travel arrangements on the internet, whether it's because they're not computer savvy, or who don't want to put financial information online.

For them, a travel agent is very convenient.

However, agents can be quite helpful (and sometimes absolutely necessary) when booking vacation packages or complicated travel itineraries.

Travel agents have all the knowledge. If I am going somewhere on holiday, my travel agent tells me which hotels are the best adn cheapest and also knows about deals with airlines. Travel agents take care of all the details.
If I do it myself, I don't know how good the hotel is and could be missing a deal on an airline I haven't heard of.
