Im leafing through a German travel guide for my trip next month, but I think there is something wrong?

In the history section it doesnt include the years 1939-1945.

Technically it shouldn't include anything from 1939 to 1990, as Germany wasn't a country until the Berlin Wall came down, and East and West Germany were unified as one country again.

We all do things in our lives which we would prefer not to broadcast to the World at large, and which we would prefer to forget.
