Default Where can I download pdf copies of lonely planet or similar travel guide books?

I am preparing for a year off and looking to go overseas. I do not wish to buy guide books for places that I may not go to, and the local library has a pathetic range. Thanks

Of course you're not going to be able to get the full book.

You are best to go into the lonely planet forums Thorn tree which has up to date information from people's experiences, that are usually helpful.

You can now buy DRM-free Lonely Planet Guidebooks right on their website. Best of all you can buy them chapter by chapter so you only get what you want.
Here is the link:

You can try downloading them at this website.

If you go there from here of course you'll need the latest version of Yahoo tools but I'm sure you already have that anyway.

Good Luck!

Have a look on Trade Me (If you are in New Zealand) or Ebay/ Craigslist etc if you are not. I travel a lot and get my lonely planets or Rough Guides there. You might not get the latest edition but you can still get relatively recent editions.
