Even with gas prices we would save about $500 by driving and we wouldn't have to rent a car when we get there. The thought of being in the van with our 6yr old & 2yr old daughters for five days is a little daunting to me. DH wants to camp along the way and take 7 days to travel. What do you think?

Have you considered the KOA campgrounds? Check out the KOA link to see all the options that they offer. For instance, many have cabins, lodges, and cottages for those who prefer not to sleep in a tent. They even have a "Plan a trip" feature that will show you where the campgrounds are all along your route.

I love road trips. I would consider how much time you have off and if its not a month then I would fly and take less time off work. four and half hours to fly is something to consider because your children will want no part of being strapped in a car seat for five days especially your speedy 6 year old. Your daughters will become very agitated and when you get back you will NEED a vacation
