Traveling to Mexico?

So I will be in Ensenada next weekend and want to know any tips on traveling safe in Mexico- particularly all the great shopping spots.

Have you found any great deals?
Also do they accept American cash?
Safety tips ?
Good stores or artists to see and buy from ?

I can only address the "American cash" issue. Many places will take it...in touristy areas...but you will pay about 10% more that way as they give you a terrible exchange rate. Far better to use your ATM card and get out pesos as needed.
