it is when you travel not in time but in a paralell existance to the one you occupy now.

yeah, its more scienfiction than real...but it is possible. Lets say you had two decisions to make....and you choose one of them. THere is another earth that exist where you choose the second decision. . Both of these things you did exsist at the same time...but you are only aware of one. You cannot travel to this other earth, by moving in the conventinal sort of the word, you must move to a differnt "dimension". In other words Dimensional travel is where you can travel to the earth where you made the other decision. If you did that....there would be another version of you in that world.

In the general sense there are not just two decisions you could have made...but many decisions...with many possible worlds, with many duplicates of you. THis is not just confined to earth but anywher that exist in our dimensions could exist in other dimensions. hope that helped

Science Fiction will have you believe that you can travel through dimensions to alternative realities.
But then Science Fiction will have you believe all sorts of mumbo jumbo.
Up/down, Left/Right and Forwards/Backwards and time are the only four dimensions you can travel in.
You can only travel in one direction in time, although the rate of travel is different to observers moving at different velocities in the other three dimensions,

OK, it's a white lie, string theorists think there are 11 or twenty-something dimensions, but these are not ones you can exist in.
