Since It will only be a 3 month trip they say to buy a GPRS or 3G cell phone and use it as a modem.
Can anyone recommend a mall store anywhere in the Metro Manila area that will sell me the phone for a decent price and also install the software on my computer ( I am not good with software and I want to make sure I can get it to work ? Which is better to use GPRS OR 3G for the laptop? |

3g is of course the way to go, but then it is not available in some parts of the philippines. there is now a prepaid version of smart bro and automatically connects to either 3g or gprs, whichever one is available. the postpaid usb modem is still available, though. current price for the prepaid usb kit is PHP4,500 or roughly around USD107, and around USD0.50 per hour rate on usage. with the postpaid, though, the kit i think comes free with a monthly fee of around PHP700 (USD16) and is alloted free hours of usage as well. the best place to buy it is in smart business centers, which are available in most if not all malls throughout metro manila.
