Default Where do these wackos come up with the theory of time travel?

And they say time travel is in the distance future. Uhhhh, if time travel was ever possible, wouldn't they already be back in time from the future to let us know?

Time travel is theoretically possible but you can only travel forward in time, never backward..

Well no one can say for certain...maybe they don't want us to know...of course they say that time travel may be possible in black holes...but maybe within the life time of all humans exsistance we will never have the technology to survive through a black hole...actually if I go further into this, I might confuse my self again...once you start thinking about black holes, time travel and singularities it can get interesting. Like two day long discussions in astronomy or something.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_travel
Read all about it. It talks about the origins of the concept and all.

Where does the theory come from? Aliens... Actually... I don't know, but I would hate to mark anything as impossible, especially being that I don't know. Humans can't seem to admit that they just don't know something... If they don't understand then they just say it's impossible... 500 years ago the idea of a TV would have been insane... The day we stop dreaming is the day we, as a civilization, cease to be.

i agree the tenth dimension video is good, if a bit fast on explaining some of them...
but people believe that a lower dimension can be folded through a higher one. so space, 3rd dimension, could theoretically be folded through the higher dimension of time, 4th. its always possible we never make it this far in technology before we kill ourselves, or maybe we have no interest in time travel because we could mess things up. maybe government restrictions could prevent something like that, or maybe living things cant live through it(dont know why not)...
another more "out there" idea would be that the act of time travel would create an alternate universe or a split in an upper dimension that would put the travellers in their own spacetime which happened to be similar to ours, but one where they couldnt interact with us.
