180/60 = 3 miles a minute.

You have to convert hours to minutes (divide by 60)

There are 60 minutes in an hour. So you could rephrase that as : A plane is traveling at 180 miles every 60 minutes. This makes it easier. Divide the miles traveled by sixty to get three miles per minute.

you could make it look like an algebra equation by doing this
180=60x x= miles per minute

good luck!!

180mi/1hour * 1hour/60min

The hour cancels out, which gives you 180mi/60min=3mi/1min

Let's analyze this and form it into basic or simpler concepts. How many minutes are in an hour? There are 60 minutes in an hour. We divide the traveling miles, that is, 180 miles, by 60.

180/60 = 3.

The conclusion is that three miles are traveled per minute! Honestly, I wonder how old are you? This is 4th grade material!

Given:
180 mi/hr

Find: Convert 180 mi/hr to mi/min.

Solution:
1 hour = 60 minute

We can use the above conversion factor to get mi/min.

(180 mi/hr)(1hr/60 min) = 3 mi/min

Notice that the unit hr against hr cancel each other leaving the units mi/min for our answer..
