Is it not time to open up trading with Cuba? Why should the US government dictate whether I can travel there?

All the trade with a less than honest China (massive ilicit trade, and harmful ingredients to name just 2 of their indiscretions, why not Cuba?????

Cause we got mad at Castro for taking out of power a leader that we put into power that would play along with our rules and kill many innocent Cubans in the process. Castro wouldn't play along with us so we blocked Cuba.

You are soooo right. Our government is punishing the Cuban people, not Castro by their silly boycotts. Castro has everything he needs or wants. I have friends who have to smuggle antibiotics to their relatives in Cuba because of our government's stupid decision which has long ago out lived it's usefulness. I am a Miami native.

big differences is their proximity to the US, and their sheer size. Also, China is a growing Capitalist country, and Cuba clings to their totalitarianism.

I agree though, it seems a bit hypocritical.

Castro has had a very bad history against the US. I agree with the Cuban exiles that it would help the current government so I am happy that they aren't. China is not the same as Cuba. China has tremendous power and can threaten US interests. We also used them to influence the Soviets and North Korea.
