We're trying to decide what to throw at the bride and groom at a summer wedding in New Orleans. I'm worried that bubbles in those tiny wedding bottles or confetti or rose petals will fall a couple of feet from where they are blown/thrown, and not even fall on the bride and groom. Can someone share their experience with this?

Well for one we are using lavender buds...thrown up in the air instead of slightly tossed has a beautiful effect. Also, ecofetti has a bit of a float to is so it travels well.
I want to say you should be careful with bubbles... those are likely to stain the dress when and if they land on it. Little bubble spots on it won't be pretty or make the bride very happy. |

I personally love the rose petals idea best; its the most romantic/beautiful and since they are natural, most churchs or reception areas won't mind if they blow around the property. Confetti is a mess, you will be removing it from your hair for days but it can be fun. Bubbles are probably your best option if you are worried about a mess because they evaporate and while the wind may not blow them in the direction of the bride and groom, it does look pretty. Its likely you the bride and groom will catch some bubbles even with the wind.

Honestly, check with the location first to see what they allow. Many churches and buildings no longer allow confetti, rice, or rose petals because of the mess.
At my brother's wedding, we had purchased a bubble machine (later given to the flower girls) but it was not turned on at the right time and no one saw a SINGLE bubble when he and his bride left the church! Also, my parents didn't test it out first and it turned out not to have great range. I had bubbles at my wedding (purchased at a dollar store). They turned out perfectly; floated over everyone and the photos look great. |

You might want to check with the place before you start throwing things, in it, outside of it, etc. Anything other than bubbles will be a mess for someone to clean up. And there's always the possiblity of the bubbles hitting her dress and making a tiny mark. WIth bird seed, or confetti, or things of that nature, the bride doesn't really want that to hit her, she'll be trying to get that stuff out of her hair for the rest of the day. We are going to do a sparkler send off at the end of the reception.
