Default I'm 33 weeks pregnant and dilated 1-2 cm along with 50% effaced. Is it safe to travel in a car for 6 hrs?

along with is it safe to be on a 'vacation' - we'd be leaving friday and coming back saturday night.

Its not "unsafe", I personally wouldn't travel away from my doctor.

I wouldn't if I was you, try talking to your doctor to see what she thinks. If you do go maybe take the your hospital bag if you have packed one already and find out the closes hospital to where you will be in vacation.

No, its not safe to ride more than 2 hours away from your OB. It is not recommended to take a long car trip when labor is imminent (about to occur). I went from 1-2 cm dialated and 50% effaced to giving birth a few days later. You very well may be heading towards a premature birth. Try to take it easy and stay in bed as much as possible as 33 weeks is too early for your baby to be born. I'm surprised your Dr. didn't prescribe bed rest if you are progressing this rapidly this early. It sounds to me like you should be on bed rest, with total relaxation and no stress to try and get yourself to 38 weeks when your baby will be "term" and the lungs will be developed enough for your baby to survive independently outside the womb.

Basically I'm saying I wouldn't risk a vacation at this point when you could put your baby's health in jeopardy. Get plenty of rest, you don't want to have this baby for at least another month or so. Talk to your OB.

Have you discussed this with your doctor at all? Generally, it is safe to travel in a car for that long while pregnant, but you would need to get out of the car every couple of hours to stretch your legs and walk around for a few minutes. But I don't know about you being 50% effaced. The 1-2 centimeters I wouldn't worry about. I would probably talk to your doctor, if you haven't already.
