Travel Team by Mike Lupica summary?

Can anyone tell me a summary of the book please i could really use your help!

This is Mike Lupica's first children/young adult book. The action takes place around 12-year-old Danny Walker, who is small for his age, but a great point guard. He doesn't make the Travel Basketball team for his grade(The Vikings), because of his size. His dad, local basketball legend Richie Walker, decides to start a new 7th grade basketball team of the kids that didn't make the Vikings. However, Richie has an alcohol problem that comes back to haunt him later in the season.

Lupica also wrote a sequel to "Travel Team", called "Summer Ball". Both are very well written books, with a much deeper meaning than just basketball.
