If we could travel to the Planetary Solar System of Kolob " Where Elohim lives "with a body" or if the entire Universe was mapped and studied would there be confirmation of the Mormon teachings of Many gods with bodies on planets throughout our universe. Or would that info be erased from the Mormon teachings?
I guess it doesn't need to be erased. It could just be changed. Like the way they changed it when DNA contradicted the Book of Mormon.. How do you think this would be handled if it happened? Lola, Thanks for the backup. Those first few guys only read and answered what they wanted. Your a rock star! xoxo McDucky To answer your question. Hypothetically if other planets out there that contained intelligent life had any religion that matched our own by at least 60% I would definitely convert to that belief system. I mean duh... McDucky.. ROFLMAO.... if ever we found another planet with intelligent life that had a religion that matched the Mormon religion more than 2%. I would ask god to curse mark me for my sins and forever curse all my offspring with purple skin. |

No, it wouldn't change. And as has been said, Kolob isn't a planet and we don't believe Elohim lives there.
EDIT: DNA evidence doesn't contradict the Book of Mormon...it contradicts an incorrect interpretation of the Book of Mormon (namely that all the Native Americans descended from Hebrew ancestors). But nice try anyway. |

You should think of looking at Battlestar Galatica..
The problem you have is thinking that Mormons believe we will be Gods with planets of our own. That isn't LDS doctrine. This was proposed by Orson Pratt in his work "The Seer" and was denounced by the church for this book. LDS doctrine says we will be in the Celestial Kingdom with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and God the Father and the Holy Ghost and our families Dna evidence never changed the book of Mormon story. No one in the church ever thought all native americans were descedants from the book of mormon peoples. |

ok
you never said that Kolob is a planet. Where did they get that from? I'm not a native speaker..... but if I said "solar system of proxima centauri" I would assume that one would know that proxima centauri is a star, not a planet - and whatever may be in its system (planets, comets, asteroids) - revolves around that star... when you said the solar system of Kolob, it's clear to me that Kolob is a star. I don't know why the confusion.... xoxo |

Well we don't believe Kolob is a solar system, and we don't believe that God lives there. It's just the star nearest to where God resides. Didn't you learn that in Church when you were still a Mormon? Because my teachers were always very clear with me on that...
As for the "many gods" thing... I don't think that there are other Gods of this universe. Our God is the only God of our existence and our surroundings. And we don't teach that other Gods live on planets, I don't know where you are getting that one from. While we're playing this "hypothetical" game here, let me ask you this: What would happen if space travel was possible and we did in fact find Kolob? Or what if we found other planets with life forms on them that have a "Mormon" church? What would you think then? |
