No. The sheer man power and cost to send every person on the planet would be *astronomical*.

The Earth has a finite existence. In millions of years the sun will begin to die and will expand to consume the Earth.

Although that is a very long time in the future mankind needs to work at making spaceflight possible now as it will take an equally long time for viable deep space flight to become a possibility.

Unless mankind finds the means to expand into space it is doomed!!

If you want to lose 2 percent of your bone mass every month then space travel past the earths electromagnetic sphere is for you. I am rather happy without cancer and having all my bone marrow. Thanks.

The idea of sending everybody somewhere else is not feasible. Long before we ever have the technology and resources to do something like that, we would have developed ways of limiting our population and keeping the earth habitable. I'm not saying that will happen any time soon, either. But when it gets to the point where even the political right wingers realize we're in really big trouble, then some changes might take place.

The only thing like this that could conceivably occur is that a small, mobile space colony might go out and find a habitable world in another star system. There are no planets in this solar system which would be a better choice than earth, even if we all but completely destroy our biosphere. If successful, such a mission would preserve our species, (and hopefully some others), but the vast majority on earth would be doomed. If the apocalyptic catastrophe can be predicted far enough in advance, humans, or whatever species our descendents would be by that time, would simply have to stop having any children at all, and eventually the last human will die before it happens.

i think if we can that will be great but maybe we can't do it because the conditions of the planet or moon, and if we can we should do it so that we could discover the universe and learn more things about the other things around us, and hey if we can live on some place else but the earth, that will be great we could get another place to toxic ate because that's what most humans do. destroy and end lives.

it depends on the situation you are talking about.....if the Earth has become an "impossible" place to live with no suitable climates......they should ofcourse move, but there hasn't been any planets where humans can survive for a long time.......but they say there MIGHT have been life on Mars........= ]

I think it would be nice if we could evacuate Earth and set it aside as a wildlife refuge. Like other people said, we don't have the economics to do a project of that scale yet. If even we managed to build a few hundred space elevators, we're talking about a very long process. For now, I'll settle for making self-sustained colonies in as many places as possible.
