[cell phone] I'm traveling right now. How does that work?

I'm from in LA, but right now I'm in other states for traveling. I want to call my family/friends in LA but I am wondering if I have to pay extra fee if I am in other states.

IT'S CALLED BY THE NAME "ROAMING". WHERE YOU SHOULD PAY SOME EXTRA CHARGE FOR RECEIVING AND MAKING CALLS.

It depends on the type of plan you have. With most plans, as long as your phone has coverage, you will not have a problem since just about all plans have long distance included. If your phone doesn't have regular coverage and you are roaming, typically you will be charged for that if your plan doesn't include roaming.
