Default What is the safest to travel in south Africa: A chartered plane or a boeing?

Is it safer to fly with a boeing from city to city in SA or is it safer to charter a light aeroplane?

Stick to the larger planes. They are much safer and less expensive. Preferably non-propeller.
However the smaller crafts are much more entertaining to fly in. Its more of a unique experience

Not that I have had occassion to fly around SA often, but personally, I would suggest the boeing. Who really knows what's safe nowadays, Lise? Look at what happend to Hansie Cronje in a Hawker Siddeley, and this incident with a chartered plane, just last week:

i honestly dont think it matters, a plane is a plane. things could go wrong in both boening and chatered planes.

The bigger Boeing should be more reliable, but it is still only a machine - anything can happen, and it is certainly scary if something just might be wrong up there, but i thoroughly enjoy flying anyway

Def inately the larger the better for long journeys.

It could be better to fly from Jo'burg to Pretoria though as the traffic stops dead in peak times.

I wouldnt trust any of them since they replaced competent maintenance staff with incompetent Africoons. Its like asking do you prefer to visit a White Doctor or a Black "doctor."
