My aunt is traveling to the united states an wants to bring her dog. She is comming via continental airlines. She has a 3 yr old miniature schnauzer, will he be able to travel inside the cabin? PLease help becuase if not she is gonna have to bring it through other means and she doesnt want to because its too expensive and she is scared something will happen to his dog.
PLease advice if this miniature schinauzer can travel inside the cabin. I think their heights are 14 inch. Note; once when i ws traveling I saw a man traveling with his dog, seemed similar to the schnauzer's size and he had him in a dog bag with his head sticking out. PLease advice me. |

It depends on the airline, but probably. She might have to pay extra though. As long as the dog is small, quiet, and well behaved it shouldn't be a problem.
Here is the Continental airlines website: http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/default.aspx Look on there and maybe email them. Good luck, hope I helped! |

I love all dogs and I have met this type of dog before. It is very expensive and gorgeous so I do understand your aunt's concern about the safety of her pet. I would travel with this pet too as it could become lost or stolen in the process of the travel. She will have to pay extra but I would pay extra and keep the pet with me at all times! She might ask her veterinarian for a tranquilizer for the pet if it becomes scared of all the noise and the crowds at the airport! She might need to carry papers on the dog in her purse to make sure and prove that it has had its rabies shot and other shots. I have blind friends who have been on an airplane with a seeing eye dog and the dog was well behaved and had its own seat too.

I travel via air with my 6.6lb paperanian named Makanui VERY often. He is allowed to travel in the cabin with my husband and me. At times the pilot will even allow him to get out of his carrier and sit in our laps. Some airlines do not charge at all for those animals carried on in the cabin. We recently flew with Maka on Continental Airlines (a domestic flight) and paid a little over $100 extra for him.
Officially, the dog will have to stay in an airline approved carrier and fit under the seat in front (so be careful not to sit in row 1). One more tidbit of advise, make sure your aunt knows that she cannot bring her dog into Hawaii without her dog going through Quarantine. We live in Hawaii and Maka has gone through all of the appropriate shots, tests, and paperwork to come in to the islands with no quarantine. Non-resident dogs still have a tougher time, I believe. |
