Why do rich liberals travel to foregin lands to go and look at the poor people?

And, then try to look their look and talk their talk.. And, give cash money to the poor of that country. But across town in the city they live in are the local poor... And, all thse rich liberals do is ridicule them and mock them.
The rich liberal give $20 USD to the poor cambodian in Cambodia.. Yet, when a homeless person begs for $5.00 in his or her homeland - he calls the police on him? Libs are such hypocrites

It's because a trip to a poor land is like a trip to the zoo to look at the various "exhibits''/ But hey hat can you expect from hypocrites/hippies?

very valid point! Wouldnt it be great if the rich would give to the poor in their surrounding neighborhoods? A star for you.

im not rich, im down right poor. but i do have a possible answer. the majority of homeless people (NOT ALL) are junkies or just live off the streets without any ideals of progressing in life. but in other countries they dont have a choice, they would do something to better themselves and their families if they had money, but materialistic stuff its not such an important issue, education is. and some non ignorant rich people understand this point of view. not all rich people are bad and heartless, mother terisa was rich, but she didnt really flaunt it, she did it the proper way.

I definitely agree charity begins at home but the scale of poverty in some "Foreign lands" by which I preseume you mean developing countries DOES NOT COMPARE to any kind of poverty that you'll find in most "developed" nations. Spread the love! Why should someone choose to donate money/time to one or the other? Splash out and go for both! Also, as an aside, I would hope that anyone that has truely witnessed abject poverty would "ridicule and mock" the situation.
