The quote is "It is computed that eleven thousand persons have at several times suffered death, rather than submit to break their eggs at the smaller end."
This is about the political struggles in the land of Lilliput, where they are at war with the country of Blefuscu, whose people break their eggs at the larger end when an Emperor of Lilliput commanded them to be broken at the small end.
