can mysore be touched in going from bangalore to pondicherry?how much time it takes and mode of travelling?

while going to pondicherry from bangalore, i wish to goto mysore also. will that be away from the route on oppsosite side?

Mysore is in the opposite direction from pondicherry To go to Mysore from Bangalore on the Shatabdi express takes about 2hours the tippu express takes longer Do visit the Palace on a Sunday when the whole palace it lit with thousands of lights and it seems that Mysore comes alive There is a good train museum and Tippu's palace and Chamundi Hill is a must.
Bangalore to Pondicherry is about 300Kms It took us most of a day by Taxi stopping in the heat of the day for a break.
