Default What are the pros and cons of booking online travel as opposed to availing of the services of travel agents?

(I'm looking for a comparative analysis here, from your perspectives.)

Thanks.

often real agencies are more expensive but u can ask them all the questions u got too. well if u book online on an officiel website like expedia or something, its much easier u can print ur ticket right away and prices are lower too. i prefer online booking. its easier and faster and u dont have to do it so far in advance

i booked a holiday for myself and my mum in march and saved 1100 euro compared to what a travel agent wanted to charge me. Same flights, same hotel. No difference what so ever. lot of money to save for a 1 week holiday. The only difficult side was i did spend a few hours on the internet getting those prices. But i thought it was worth it. If your willing to look around different sites you can save alot of money.

The pros about booking on-line include you being able to see what flights are out there so you are not relying on a travel agent to tell you what flights are available. Also the travel website can help you with a package deal if you wanted to add car rental and hotel. Depending on how much you are willing to spend on hotel and car rental, the travel website can tailor a package to your needs quicker.

The cons include not having a personal relationship with a particular person if you need to contact the travel website if your travel plans change.

A travel agent can answere specific questions and give more details, but they charge a fee. If you are only booking a flight, then I would do it online, otherwise I would suggest using a travel agent. You don't want any surprises to spoil your trip.
