If astral travel is possible..why do people who claim to do it ever buy plane or train tickets to go anywhere?

You don't astral project to Malibu, you go through layers of reality not perceivable in day to day life. Like other dimensions. The concept of another dimension is very misunderstood by non-adepts, it's not like a place very similar to this one that you travel to through a portal over a great distance, it's the same place with more information. Think of the relationship between a cat and a human. The cat is quite aware of their surroundings but not aware of the thoughts of the human who is petting them, let alone what a human is. Higher order reality is very much like the human petting the cat. We are aware of reality but cannot see or understand aspects of it. Astral projecting is raising your mind into higher order reality and perceiving it, hopefully.
