Prospect Heights is a little limited in that sense...there are a bunch of roadhouse/sports bar/neighborhood joints along River Road and Elmhurst Road (including a few strip joints) in the Mount Prospect Des Plaines area, but your best bets are: The Ram on Milwaukee Road in Wheeling, Cubby Bear North on Milwaukee Road in Lincolnshire (check their website, there are often concerts!), and Durty Nellie's in Palatine (they also have rocking concerts--plus there are a bunch of bars in that area). If those places don't interest you, there are dance clubs in Schaumburg (Privilege, Bamboo Room, Alumni Club, the Living Room), which isn't that far a drive, or you could head into the city. Enjoy your trip!

Good answers so far.

Just to expand your options, the Daily Herald has a site called BeepCentral.com that focuses on entertainment in the suburbs. Here's a listing of bars/clubs within 5 miles of Prospect Heights:

http://www.beepcentral.com/search/bars/?type=1&loc=83&name=

Their main page at http://www.beepcentral.com/ has a more general calendar to help you find theater events, movies, music, etc.

Also, depending on how much time you have, Prospect Heights is reasonably close to the Metra train line, which can take you into Chicago fairly quickly, so don't rule that out as an option. Just make sure you check the schedules.

There's station information for Prospect Heights at:
http://metrarail.com/Sched/ncs/prospect_heights.shtml
and schedule information at:
http://metrarail.com/Sched/ncs/ncs.shtml

For Chicago events (and some suburban), check
Metromix: http://chicago.metromix.com/
The Chicago Reader: http://www.chicagoreader.com/

Hope this is helpful!
