I know of no train like that in the US.Amtrack is the only nationwide passenger train. They do not combine freight with passengers.Perhaps you could ask the person you heard that from.Mexico has a train like that... See link:

Amtrak does have an "autotrain" that transports cars along with passengers, but it only runs between Virginia and Florida. You can't do it from Ohio.

You can get schedules and fares at Amtrak's website at www.amtrak.com.

Amtrak's website shows they have trains from Cleveland to D.C. South of D.C. [Lorton VA] you can get the autotrain, where you can bring your car on the train. The autotrain route goes to Sanford FL, traveling through S.C.

The only train where you can bring your car on the train is between Virginia and Florida. It's Amtrak's Auto Train from Lorton, VA (south of Washington DC) to Sanford, FL (near Orlando). And it doesn't make any stops. Otherwise you'll have to ship your car, or just drive. If you want to take the passenger train you'd have to go through NYC and change trains, and it would take a long time. Check www.amtrak.com for more information.
