Default If I were to travel by train from Atlanta to New York, is it possible to take a non-stop trip?

If so, what are the starting prices?

Actually, no you cannot.
The train makes scheduled stops to pick up and drop off passengers. Also to take on fuel, water, etc.
Another thing to keep in mind. Amtrak does not own the rails they use. And are therefore subject to unscheduled stops anywhere they travel.

No, for one, Amtrak stops at a number of different locations each direction. Second, when you get to Washington, D.C. you'll have to change trains to go the rest of the way.

My family & I live in Atlanta and have made the trip several times by train. We'll always left around 7:00-ish P.M. and arrived in NYC mid-afternoon the next day.

If you can afford it, get a sleeper...and it sure beats sleeping in a regular chair. You get a private john, video player and all your meals are then included...no matter what you pick from the menu!

In any case, being able to sit back, read, relax, eat, have a drink in the club car, maybe play some cards or do absolutely nothing if you want to...sure beats the heck out of driving!

One of the answers to this question said that a change of trains is required at Washington, D.C., when travelling from Atlanta to New York.

That's not what the timetable shows. It runs as Train 20 Atlanta-New York and as Train 19 on the reverse. If a change of trains was required, the train numbers would be different from each other on each segment. There is a layover at D.C. of about an hour northbound, however.

There would be a change of trains involved if the passenger decided to get off in D.C. for whatever reason and then catch a later D.C-NYC train.
