Take the "Air Train" from JFK to the subway station (Howard Beach station.) Take the A train (that's the name of a particular subway line) in the direction of Manhattan to 34th Street in Manhattan. It's a pretty long trip, so don't get worried if you don't get there right away.
When you get out of the subway station at 34th Street, look for Penn Station (it's right there.) Go into Penn Station to the section for Amtrak, and get your ticket to Baltimore. (Be smart, buy that ticket ahead of time, and allow a LOT of time to get to Penn Station from the plane.) You can pick up your ticket at one of the machines in the station. Bon Voyage! |

Fastest way:
Take AirTrain ($5) from airport terminal to Jamaica Rail Station. Take Long Island Railroad ($5-8, depends on time of day -- buy ticket in station or it will be much more expensive on train) from Jamaica to Penn Station (end of the line). Then take an Amtrak train from NY Penn Station to Baltimore -- you can order this ticket online beforehand and then print it out from a machine at the station. |

JFK to Baltimore by rail, very good choice:
Step 1- take the Airtrain from JFK to Jamaica Station (listen for the announcement for Jamaica Station) Step 2- change at Jamaica Station to the "E" train (which is a subway route that serves the borough of Queens and Manhattan) and take the Manhattan-bound train to 34th Street-Penn Station Step 3- at Penn Station buy your ticket and wait until the train for Baltimore is announced. Amtrak trains are assigned track numbers so listen for announcement. Pricing information and travel time Airtrain JFK (JFK to Jamaica Station-10 minutes) - $5 NYC Subway (E-train from Jamaica Station to Penn Station-25 minutes) - $2 Amtrak (Penn Station - Baltimore- 2 to 2.5 hours) price varies by which service your taking. now, if you don't want to buy a ticket at Penn station you can order it on-line before hand and print your ticket out at the station. make sure you type "Baltimore-Penn Station" on arrives column. i hope this very helpful, enjoy your trip. |

If I were you I would look for a flight from JFK to BWI. At BWI you can jump on the Light Rail to Baltimore City.
The cost of these flights is about the same cost of the Amtrak from Penn Station and when you add the cost of traveling into Penn Station from JFK, it is probably a cheaper route. |
