yeah this has occured to me too. But as wizards have many ways to travel so it wouldn't take much for them to get to Kings Cross. Maybe they have other arrangements for those already closer to Hogwarts to get there. The train doesn't stop until they get to Hogwarts. But as it's tradition and is a way to meet other new kids then they probably all go down there.

He is English, West of the UK is not exclusively Wales! ( Oi should know, me babber, oo arrrr!)
Given that Wizards can apparate, travel by the floo network and other magical means, setting out to Hogwarts from a single station is not the problem that it would be for muggles! |

I think the other witches and wizards travel through there fireplace with that fairy dust stuff? Like harry did in the chamber of secrets? Yes hogwarts train doesn't have any stops. Other than that if the teachers live at hogwarts like hagrid, then most likely they probably travel the train too pic up the wizards.

One of the many faults JK has put in her novels.
Don't look to the films for answers either as every director's grasp of the geography of Britain is totally crap. I guess it could do like the Knight Bus does. (No doubt that's how JK would explain it. Or tell you that you're being too pedantic.) |

We are told only of the train that travels to Hogwarts. Who's to say there's not other means of transport?
We're aware of the Floo Network, The Knight Bus, them cars which expand. Some may travel on muggle transportation. However, there is a possibility that there are other means of transport for witches and wizards that we are not told of - for example, a train line that runs from Cardiff to London in a matter of minutes (sorcery would allow something like this. Of course, this raises the issue as to why the Hogwarts Express doesn't do this) The fact that Rowling never stated how other witches and wizards arrive at Platform 9 3/4 means that it is open to debate. It's not a flaw - she just never included it. Edit: "Other than that if the teachers live at hogwarts like hagrid, then most likely they probably travel the train too pic up the wizards." We know that the teachers don't live at Hogwarts - Snape, for example, lives at Spinner's End. |
