Default How long does it take to travel from Dover to London by train?

I am looking for the fastest way to travel from Dover to London by train - I heard of a high speed rail opening in 2009, is it in service yet? My job is in London and I might have to move to Dover so I am wondering if the journey is too long for me to keep working in London.

Victoria (2:28)

Check the link below from thetrainline.com to see example times. You can re-do the journey yourself if you want to

The high speed trains are starting at the end of this year. Until then the fastest service is to London Charing Cross taking 1 hour 33 minutes

Dover is around 100 miles from Heathrow Airport. Because Heathrow is on the other side of London to Dover there are no direct public transport links. All transfers by public transport between Heathrow and Dover require a connection in Central London.

Travelling by National Express Bus is the simplest as there is a simple one stop connection at Victoria Coach Station where you change buses. The Dover rail alternative though much faster overall than bus involves a tedious transfer between Heathrow and the train stations in Central London that service Dover. You either have to endure the crowded London Underground system or get a train from Heathrow to London Paddington, then a cross city taxi or Underground train to Victoria or Charing Cross.
For both bus and train public transport options, a taxi is required from the rail and bus terminus in Dover to the cruise terminal.

Private hire motor transport by taxi, van or charter bus for the journey will take around two hours.
