I'm travelling from Southend-on-sea in Essex to London Liverpool Street, and am then using the Tube to travel to the centre of London, I'll buy a day travelcard.
Is it true that I can't use the Tube/train network during the rush hour with my day travelcard? Say, if I left Southend after lunch, but wanted to leave London between half 4 and half 5, would my ticket be valid? I really can't seem to find information anywhere, and people I've asked are giving me conflicting answers! Grateful for your help, thanks:) |

there's two types of one day travelcard, the peak one and the off-peak one ... the peak one you can use at any time and costs £7.20 for Zones 1+2 ... the off peak one costs £5.60 ... off peak hours are after 9 30.a.m. Monday to Friday, all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays ... the evening rush hour is not counted as peak hours, it's just the morning rush hour
so you'll be fine |

You can use your off-peak travelcard even during the evening rush hour - the only restriction is before 9.30am, which won't affect you.
There is one mainline train company - First Capital Connect - who have imposed an evening peak restriction on travelcards, but unless you are travelling north overground from Kings Cross or Moorgate, that won't affect you either. |
