I would hope so, submit an expense report for time, mileage and food.

submit all your receipts to your manager if you have any problems consult your union rep. if your not in the union then join and they can offer you all the advise you need concerning these matters.

The answers above appear to believe your question relates to a claim against Tesco (that would easily be answered by going into your personnel office).

However as the question is logged under UK taxes i assume you mean can I claim tax relief for the expense of travelling to the site of the training course.

The answer is no tax relief is due as you are not incurring these expenses whilst carrying out your duties but these expenses are incurred in order to put yourself in the position to do your duties.

Knowing Tesco I doubt it. Just ask your manager

You need to look very carefully at your contract of employment. This should deal with this problem as far as the question of "will my employer pay for this?"

If they do not then the question of tax relief will revolve round whether you are obliged to undertake this training by your contract of employment. If you are then I think you should be able to claim tax relief on this expenditure.
