You could always make a quick phone call prior to purchasing your ticket just to make sure but i imagine you would be able to travel no problem.
Its only really like taking the bus..

Yes, I'm pretty sure that's the age where they let you, but it depends on which station or rail you're using. I know AmTrak does....

Yes, you can travel alone on a child ticket provided you're aged between 5 and 15.

The only restrictions are if you're travelling on a Family Railcard, in which case I think an adult cardholder has to be present.

Sure, 5 year-olds can travel alone if they're confident enough and their parents are willing. I was certainly travelling on trains by myself when I was 11. The only thing wrong with your question is that it's not a Virgin train, it's Arriva Trains Wales from Rhyl to Manchester.

Yes they certainly are. Any child above the age of about 10 would not attract suspicion travelling alone, however under that age I suspect like myself an employee of the railway would check to make sure they was alright, where they was going and check the ticket to ensure that everything was ok. Have come across a couple of children that have been lost or over run a station due to problems and quickly got them back on track.
Certainly a 15 year old would not raise any worries unless they was an at risk person (disabled, assistance required, etc.).
