Default Travelling by train in the UK?

My friend wants to travel from Ipswitch (England) to Glasgow (Scotland) What is the fastest way to do this by train? What trains train #s will he need to get on etc, and could you provide links, thanks!

Have a look on the net. Search it on google and be sure to just search pages in the UK!! Hope that helps.

This is probably the best website to use: http://www.traveline.org.uk/index.htm

Just go to the Scotland section, go to 'plan your journey' and type in the details (from ipswich, to glasgow, and uncheck all the boxes except rail) to get these results:

The quickest option looks like taking a train to london (liverpool st), then underground to london euston station, and from there to glasgow central station. Here's the details:

You can get the exact details and links to buy tickets if you put in your journey dates and times.

The cheaper route, which takes about the same time, is Ipswich to Peterborough, to Edinburgh, to Glasgow. The "open" fare is about 80% of the fare via London.
