Whether by train or bus, you can expect a long delay at the US border while all the passengers are examined by US Immigration and Customs.
Both methods have their advantages: bus tends to be cheaper, and several departure times every day. Also, the buses are faster, taking 11-12 hours depending on which trip you take.
Train is only once a day, but has bigger, more comfortable seats, and on-board food and drinks. Generally, trains tend to ride smoother than buses too. Drawback is the higher fare and 13 hour travel time.
