Default Train travel in Italy - from Milan to Grosseto?

I am arriving in Milan, Italy (Malpensa) via Amsterdam at 11:25am. I need to get from Milan to Grosseto & have been told that the train would be an easy and economical way to get there. I am trying to figure out which would be the best train to take from the below options:

Depart 2:00pm from Milano Cantrale
Arrive 4:39pm Firenze Rifredi

Depart 5:16pm Firenze Rifredi
Arrive 8:09pm Grosetto

OR

Depart 3:10pm Milan Centrale
Arrive 4:42pm Genova Piazza

Depart 4:52pm Genova Piazza
Arrive 8:32pm Grosseto

I have been told that Malpensa is more than an hour away from train station in Milan so I would also be interested in knowing advice on best way to get from airport to train station. Will I have enough time for bag retrieval, immigration, travel time, etc to make 2:00pm train? I also have been told that Florence train station is smaller and easier to manage (vs Genova) and therefore will be easier to navigate with luggage, etc. Any addtl info would be appreciated! THANKS

http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html for train
http://www.malpensashuttle.it/e-default.htm for bus

"Coach is not a turn of phrase, it is a way of travelling: quiet and safe. The Malpensa Shuttle Coach Buses connect each 20 minutes the Milan Central train station with Malpensa Airport.
The Malpensa Shuttle also connect directly the two Milan Airports, Linate and Malpensa, and stop at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the latter.
In the occasion of fair events, all the Malpensa Shuttle stop, on request, at the Milan Fair, which therefore is reached, comfortably and cheaply, directly from Malpensa Airport."

As for train schedule, I think they suggested you the best options (that Firenze stations, which is not the main one, is smaller, right).
Anyway, although it will take a little longer, remember you can also, from Linate, reaching Novara via coach bus (near 40 minutes)
http://www.stnnet.it/novaramalpensa.html (stop at Stazione FS, *not* Autostazione, ticket on board); then from Novara (smaller station there as well) to Torino (Turin) then Grosseto.

Malpensa-Centrale is 50min by bus (5 buses/hour) and delays is never more than 5 min...

Bag retrieval, unfortunately, is another story.... :-(((
Then, Firenze is a better option as you're likely to miss your connection in Genova...(unless it's a direct train).
