In AIT training will I have off base privilages if so how far can I travel and will I have the whole weekend?

Sorry buddy but no, you are in training. You will be lucky if you get to go to the chow hall by yourself.

well the answer is yes but it depends.... if u have to stay in the same place for basic and ait (i.e. is u go to ft leonardwood for basic and u are goin to ait for an 88M... then u will stay at ft. leonardwood) then u will not have that privalage.

but if you go to another state for your ait then u will have weekends off (according to what your company says are he rules). i went to ft. lee and when i got there they had taken away overnight passes(due to drug overdoeses and rapes). so the way it worked for us was, that saturday we get liberty from 1400 till 2300 (if lucky),,, formation was at 2300 or sometimes u had 2 just sign in by then.... dependin on the pass you have u will most likley get to wear civy's. then on sunday we will leave from 0600 till 1700. and that was our pass. other ft will have overnights and such but it all depends where u go.

might not seem like much but it was Godly at the time. specially when it was a 4day pass like the holidays that land on mondy o fridy!...man good old days.

but theeres a catch--- u have to earn it and maitain it--- ur DS can easily take it away-- its a privalage. that can eaisly be taken away. just dont do anything stupid that will ruin it 4 u and others..drink midly and no stupid sex acts cuz the mps will raid the hotels trust me!. and then its ur ass. specially if u are married.

the distance of travel is like 50m.... but u can convince the taxi driver to exceed that but just get back in time! and not drunk cuz u will have random drug test and b alcohol tested if someone suspects.

It depends on your MOS. Some, AIT sections can be very long and allow a bit more freedom, but don't think you're getting into a 9 to 5 slot just yet.

i guess it depends on where you go.. but most likely you WILL get the weekends off.. we got every weekend off but had to be back my bedtime.. I think (if i remember correctly) was like 12 am. on the weekends.. except for on sunday cuz of course you have to go to formation the next morning.... but yea anyway..you get time to yourself

It depends on the length of your AIT.

At first, in AIT you will be restricted to the base.

But if you have a long AIT, after time ( couple of months ) the restrictions will start easing.

My husband was at Ft.Leonardwood,MO for basic training. He had to pass his PT test and take some kind of exam before they allowed him to get off-base privileges. You cannot travel very far and you usually have to be with another soldier. Also, they require that you wear your dress-greens when off-base so you represent the military properly. And if you dont go back on time you will get your off-base priveleges taken away.
