If we were able to live on mars with persurize domes and such. Would you be able to actually travel in a space ship without freaking out? If you have panic attacks or anxienty, think about looking out the window and realizes you are in space! Or that you just landed on Mars. Or do you think people would just get use to. I am sure when Airplanes first introduced as a means of travel, people were freaked out. But again you have some people who would do anything for a thrill. Me Personally, i dont think i could handle the mindstate, and end up freaking out! Tell me what you think.
I just sent a part 2 about the mind state of living in the dome. |

I know, for a fact, that I cold definitely handle that. Personally, I absolutely love danger, and even though something such as that released to the public is not dangerous, I think I would at first find it entertaining. I would jump at the chance to visit Mars.
Of course, if colonies were developed, then after the first generation, people wouldn't think anything of being in space. They'd probably say, "How could anyone be scared to live here?" Perhaps they would even freak out if they traveled to Earth, because they weren't in any containment domes or such. |

Some ppl still freak out when you fly. But then again ppl who don't like to fly don't fly to often. And I don' think that when flight was first introduced everyone freaked out on their first trip. The airlines wouldn't want to fly ppl if all they did was freak out the whole way. I think on the whole ppl would be fine psychologically with space travel. You will have a few ppl who don't freak out but that's goes with just about anything. My girlfriend will fly but she freaks out if you try to put her on a roller coaster.

i used to have a dream of being the first man on mars when i was little......but if it were me now, i would still be the first to volunteer to be in a mission to go to mars......if anyone just took time to realize the awe and greatness of space and realized that space is the last frontier and is where humans are going to have to go deeper and deeper sooner or later anyone would be fine with going, all those fears go out the window

Think of it this way. By the time they allow everyday people to live on another planet, or in space in general, it will have been tested for many years by scientists living there. Look at the space station. Would you be worried that it was going to fail on you? Or would you be able to accept that its been running for a long period, and has proven itself.
Personally, I would be able to deal with it. However, if there was some sort of question about the stability of the dome, Id be out of there in a heartbeat. If its pressurized, that means we havent tera-formed it, and a crack in the dome could equate to sudden decompression. |
