Here's some positives I can think of:
1. In a mature society galactic commerce and trading will be desirable between planets just as it is desirable between earth bound nations today. 2. Space travel will be the equivalent of ocean travel today; essential to society. 3. Exploration to discover intelligent life, both societies could benefit from eachother's scientific research. Negatives: 1. Expensive as of now. |

one benefit to space travel is that it slows your aging process because you body is weightless in space and it doesn't work as hard as it does when gravity is involved.
and a negative would be that when you come back from space they are so use to being weightless that it takes a bit for them to get use to gravity again walking for an example. |

As far as i know space exploration would aid in counter acting any space tragedy we might face in the near future and on top of that human curiosity has been around with everyone wanting to know where we started or how did everything come to exist. With the projection that life on earth won't last forever space exploration could come in very handy in terms of finding escape routes when the time comes. Wouldn't it be good to find another planet to inhabit if anything happens to earth, on the downside what if what we find from space travel is evil and dangerous and a threat to mankind as we know it!!!!! hope this gets ya thinking:)
