I heard that it is possible to bend space, you just need lots of energy to do it. Would human kind be able to create enough energy to do this? Is it possible to harness enough energy and use it in this way?

Interstellar Travel Devices
Hyper drive Hyperspace Description The Hyper drive was developed first by the Hotha, who are believed to be the second sentient species to evolve in the galaxy. Their countless empires spanned the stars some 12 billion years ago. The Hotha spent a thousand years studying the physics and quantum physics of the universe and discovered the hyper-dimensions of the universe. These dimensions are a reduced scale version of the real universe. The scale of this distortion is not even. The effects of gravity on the real universe increases the amount of change in the Hyper-dimensions. For example, a star emits a large gravity field while empty space has relative none. While traveling between systems or even galaxies the compression of hyperspace was about 500 times. Near a gravity field, that compression goes up relative to the g-forces in n-space. Each G force adds about 250 times of distortion. One G force will magnify the distortion up to about 750 times, while ten Gee’s will bring that same distortion up to 3000. Traveling through hyperspace has the benefit of no acceleration limits. While N space is limited to light speed, there is no such limit in Hyper space. The down side is that hyperspace has a natural friction and deceleration effect on ships. Ships traveling fast have to deal with hull ware and energy loss. Because of the lack of any speed limit, light and radio energies constantly accelerate towards infinity. This is the reasons for one of the first developments of FTL Communications. This drag is caused by a strange hyper gravity field that makes up hyperspace. This is gravity is inversely proportional to the compression of hyperspace. The more compressed the region of hyperspace is, the less amount of drag. Hyperspace Travel Technology Hyper engines are advanced quantum field generator. This field envelops the traveling vehicle and sinks the ship down to the hyper-dimensions. Once in hyperspace a standard sublight ship engine can propel the vehicle as if it were in normal space. Unlike normal space there is drag and friction. Although noting can counteract the drag. Shields can be used to prevent hull ware or hull burn. Navigation with in Hyperspace is done with gravity sensors and gravity maps. Because star charts are useless here, hyper travelers have to rely on the maps created by the first travelers. These maps have been updated and they reflect all gravity forces in hyperspace. Combat in hyperspace is strange unless you have weapons designed to fight in hyperspace. Lasers would bend off course because of gravity, missiles would slow down and stop and explosions would not react as they would in N-space. Hyperspace Development History The Hotha were the first species to travel the stars and they did it with hyperspace. In the years of the second Hotha second age of peace (BC 12,451,098,341-‘097,284) several colleges of physics thinker were trying to advance their empires colonization of space. They had their home systems 11 worlds under their thumb, but they were running out of land rooms. The lead thinker was named Cathow the Foremost (‘098,301-‘098,107) and with the incredibly brilliant insights of his team they managed to prove the existence of they hyper dimensions. Using hyper radar sensors they managed to probe into hyperspace and got readings from 12 nearby star systems ranging out to 200 light years away. After working for many years, the engineer Zordorh the mechanic (‘098,256-‘097-849) built the Emperor Froh the bold and began hyper travel. In the next two hundred years, the Hotha registry of hyper maps began the galaxy wide mapping. The development of the hyperdrive has been going along steadily since its creation with the first major empires of the galaxy. It long ago came to a point of efficiency and endurance. Not much more was done to it beyond minor tweaks. By 11 billion years ago, hyperdrives were standardized and only in a great while a new species managed to increase the capabilities of the drives. As of 5050, there was no set endurance limit to how far and how fast a hyperdrive could get you. Speed was determined by the engines you brought with you. the amount of time a ship could stay in hyperspace was determined only by the supplies of energy in the ship itself. Slipstreaming Nature of slipstream The slipstream is a sub dimension to the hyper dimension. To visually think of it, think of a large 3D area that has small subways that allow instantiations travel between the entrance and the exit. Each slipstream access point can be triggered with an energy burst. The energies modulation and frequency establish the exit corridor. When the link is made, there is a flash of light and a gravity induction wave pulls the ship to the other side. The dangers involved is that if the other side opens on top of another ship, all involved are destroyed and some energy waves could ripple out over the network possibly destroying other ships. History of the Slipstream The slipstream networks were created by the ancient race known as the Ethion. They wanted a very fast way to get between the worlds of their empire which existed about 8 billion years ago. At the time of the conception of the slipstream there were a number of large Ethionic empires across the galaxy. The nation of Ata-lonik had a great leader, Emperor Agol knak (BCE 7,984,290,981-‘290,118) hired the great thinker Zaynta (BCE 7,984,290,839-‘289,877) to find a faster way to span the universe and unite the Ethion under the Ata-lonik empire. He came up with the slipstream. He used the name Aja’kar (Hyperspace short cut). Zaynta developed a system of hyperspace Gravity anchoring tools that one would place a set at the destination and the start of a travel rout. Once some one turned them on, the slipstream would be carved out of hyperspace. Zaynta was awarded with the imperial code for his success. In the next four thousand years, the other nations of Ethion were anchored. As the Ethion encountered other species in the galaxy they protected their secrets dearly. The Ethion were very militant about keeping their technology under their control. When they went extinct 7.5 billion years ago, the technology disseminated across a few species who managed to pirate off their splintered empires of the Ethion. Among these younger species were the Zakari and the Dai-ado. They managed to make new routs. In this way the slipstream was maintained until a quarter million years BCE. The knowledge of slipstream degraded and was devolved to the point that the drives could be copied, but not improved. The systems that maintained the streams were lost to history and the slipstream network was breaking apart. By 5050 slipstream is by far the fastest means of travel across the galaxy. Because the slipstream has degraded since the fall of the A-toka, the last of the caretaker species who followed the Ethion. A few species have claimed to know how to expand it, but their results are few and far between. By this time, the stream is mostly unmapped and dangerous. Getting drives is a problem because only a few archaic ship wrecks even have them. None of the known species know how to build them. But if a ship owner can get one, and if they are daring, this form of travel is nearly instant, and very efficient. Technology for slipstream All a ship needs is an energy antenna that can broadcast the right energy waves and the engines to get to the entrance points. This antenna is a slipstream broadcaster. They are not hard to come by, if you talk to the Othanta or the Draz. Gravity Warp Drive The Gravity Warp Drive was developed by humanity in their year 2325. It allowed them to spread out across their corner of the galaxy. Warped space description Warped space is an environment that is artificially altered by high levels of artificial gravity. Because of this, it is very dangerous. If a ship with a warp drive plows through another ship, an asteroid, or what ever, the thing getting plowed will shear and shatter, and the warp nodes will most likely feed back, blow out, and destroy the ship traveling through warped space. Other problems with warped space is that it distorts radio and FTL communications. Most energy distortion means that seeing where your going is hard. This is where warp sensors and good maps come in. Warp drive support technology Warp nodes The base of this drive is the device that compresses space ahead of the ship and expands it after the ship and in essence it gives the ship an apparent speed much faster then C. It uses a non standard Gravity node called a Warp node that super-compresses space for the required warping. A warp grav node is a solid state device that creates a strong gravity field. Using it causes ware because of the high energies involved. Your average gravity generation node made after 4950 will last about 10 years with average use. Average use is about 20 days of operation in a stretch, with a ten day cool off period. A series of nodes, often in sets of 4, with a few sets in the front, and a few sets in back. The power requirements can be described as expensive in power as the gravity fields needed grows along the square cubed law as the mass of the ship goes up. Smaller Private yachts and military war ships can manage the power requirements, but bulk freighters are impossible to accommodate with modern warp-grav generators. Warp sensors Developed by Kendra LaRouix in 2333, these energy based detection systems used the warping of space as a sort of lens to see what was ahead of the ship. Normal sensors could not see through all of this. Warp sensors used very high definition readers and a hell of a lot of computer technology and many algorithms to sort out all the crap. They don’t have the resolution of normal sensors, but they make the journey safer. Warp Drive development history Space warping was an old concept but it was first proven as a reality in a real test under Aries National University Laboratories test ship the USS Argo. Launched June 7th, 2320, The ship used advanced warp nodes (for the time) and they managed to warp the space around the ship. They didn’t travel anywhere, but this test flight was not meant for that. Relaunched on the 15th of October, 2325, the Argo set sale for Alpha Centauri and got there arrived 73 days later. They took some sensor readings, sent a message back and turned around. The message sent by captain Earl McHenry arrived in 2329 and by that time many more ships had been built and commissioned. Extra solar exploration and Colonization had begun. But there was a problem. Warping space had the nasty habit of causing ships to hit rocks and blow up. It took the bravest people to use the ship. In 2333 the first primitive warp sensors were developed at MIT by Kendra LaRouix. This device made the travel of warp ships a hell of a lot safer. Warp drive allowed humanity to expand out and away from earth. The Mark 1 drive was able to get a ship up to a relative speed of about 10C. the power requirements of this drive was extensive but fusion power cores of the time could deal with them. In the 2500s the next major leap in warp nodes came out with multi phased nodes. This allowed for half of the nodes for the same amount of warping. Faster speeds with less energy. It dramatically increased the range of the ships. After the Draz-Terran war a lot of reverse engineering of draz technology made their way into warp technology. Part of this was done by the Hobrook labs of Zanzibar. Dr Mobauto Mafesto and his team managed to apply Drazian power systems and synthetic material technology to 4th generation gravity nodes. This managed to get the travel speed up to about 95C or 100 C depending on the make and model of the node. As of 5050 the standard and common gravity warp drives can travel about 1460C or 10 light years in two and a half days. Its power source can be any number of things, and that is what controls fuel consumption. They ware out if over used and if under used they can be used for longer then a few years. The gravity warp nodes need to be changed out every year or so. Space Folding Nature of space folding The space fold works on the principal of folding space and the first operational drives had only limited range. The basic principal is that space itself can be folded and any ship can travel across this fold as if it was going from one point to another. This method is as fast as slipstreaming, but more easily used. This is done using a series of power charge coils that hold energy charged up by the vehicles power systems. This stored power is focused through a series of quantum power inductors that manipulate the quantum nature of the universe to move one part of the universe to another, temporarily. It is very difficult to explain how this drive works with out degrees in quantum and unification physics so I wont go into them here. Technology of space folding Power charge coil inductors These are the quantum manipulators that allow the universe to be folded. The distance and strength of this fold requires more power, and that power is stored and used in these inductors. Exit Matter Scanner This device quickly scans the destination of a fold, while the fold is in the quantum state. Because this state doesn’t effect normal matter, the scan can be done before any matter interaction can happen which could cause massive destruction on the exit side. History of space folding Space fold systems were first developed in the 37th century as a mixing of a large collection of alien technologies and theories. This mixing was the result of the 3655 technology fair on the world of Gulispi out on the edge of several species, in one of the multi species zones of space. The first operational drive arrived in 3683. This came about through the Gulispi International University of Science, Technology, and Physics. The IUSTP labs spent millions of dollars on experimental technology. The Fold labs were led by Professor Barbara Nox (CE 3601-3743). It resulted in a revolutionary means of travel. The first major flaw to come out was that it was hard to use safely. The initial problems with folding included the dangers of folding into matter at the destination. The quantum level reactions of defolding into mater was that it resulted in explosions. The worst of these accidents came up in 3662 in the nation of Trion. The test lab on the fifth moon of Kyron, in the Catharine system, was monitoring a defold action from the ISS Grand Kael that launched from New Eden in the Paulson Kingdom. The Defold cut too closed to the Moon of Kyron and was blown apart. This lead to an uproar across humanity and the outcry for the banning of the drive succeeded. The terran republic, Trion, and New Poland all banned the fold device because when that moon detonated Kyron was devastated and millions died. It took a long time and a lot of money but development continued in the black ops labs of the Terran fleet force, the united star republic and even a few alien nations. In the years between 3700 and 3900 slow and steady progress was made in dozens of labs. Everyone knew the potential of this drive, but people were afraid of the public fear of this. The solution to the fold engine was called the exit matter scanner. This device scans the destination and if there is too much matter in the arrival area, the arrival is moved to a near by location, or canceled causing a failed fold. In the event of a failed fold the ship reverts back to the place where it launched from. All this was kept under wraps. Then in 4234 the announcement was made that an operational drive was made. This first generation, mark I fold was cheaper then warp drives for short hauls. It could move larger masses faster and cheaper. This fact caused a lot of short haul cargo costs to come down. More trade posts were developed around the smaller worlds and the larger worlds were increased in their development. As of 5050 the standard and common space fold systems, marks 8 to 10, can get you a one time leap of up to 150 light years with a power core recharge time of about a 5 days. Hypergate/Stargate Nature of Hypergate/Stargate Hypergates and their little brother Stargates are instant travel between two gates using a quantum level subspace wormhole. These devices use a wormhole to connect two gates. This creates the ability for near instant travel between two points. From the point of view of the traveler it is instant. From the outside world the time of travel depends on the distance. Speeds can be up to one hundred thousand C meaning it would take a year to get from one end of the galaxy to the other. This means that the traveler would be gone form the universe for a year, while not experiencing this year. This system uses wormholes powered by high energy phase emitter systems synchronized on both gates in question to send travelers through. All this traveling happens on a quantum level between gates. Technology of Hypergate/Stargate A Stargate is a small array of superconductor phase emitters arranged in a ring pattern about twenty feet in diameter. A Hypergate is a bigger ring of superconductor phase emitters arranged in a ring that is a kilometer in diameter. History of Hypergate/Stargate Hypergates are a relativity new invention coming about after years of study from MIT physics/mechanical labs in Cambridge, Massachusetts on earth. The first operational system came up in the 4910 and they were deposited around the Terran Republics key worlds in star ports and Hypergates were put in orbit of key worlds for fleet transport. These gates were reserved for senators, ambassadors and rich travelers. The price slowly came down, but for most people space travel was warp drive or no drive. In 4971 the world of Trion and the world of Gilbar were the first non Terran Republic worlds to get gates and it sped up travel to them. Sublight Engines Gravity Transport Drive The Terran Systems second most valuable contribution to humanity, after being a loving home for 50,000 years, was the Gravity Transport Drive. Ever since Isaac Newton first defined gravity, people have wished to harness this great force. It was learned that Gravity is the warping of space by matter and along these lines, warping space with energy to create unnatural gravity was a goal of humanity since the 21st century. It was late in the 21st century that the first inkling of gravity control was developed for the early asteroid colonies built around the Sol System. These gravity control systems were worked on and incrementally improved late into the 23rd centuries when it was miniaturized to the point that it could be put on heavy lift vehicles. When this happened, rockets were no longer needed to lift payloads off the surface of worlds. These drives were modified to be put on space ships and this freed them from having to worry about projectile fuel. This device also allowed for hovercars to be come the norm in cities bring three dimensional traffic all over the Sol system. Space became very cheap, and the once expensive colonial operation that had caused Mars to revolt in the 22nd century was now dirt cheep. Large ships were sent out in all directions using the new Warp drives and using their gravity transport drives and spread humanity all over. Over the next 20 centuries, the efficiency, speed, and power output of these drives as increased by exponential numbers. AP Drive This drive is simple. Anti Protons (AP) are antimatter. They are held in magnetically bottled storage tanks until they are injected into a magnetic intermix chamber with an equal amount of Protons. The two forces of matter and antimatter come together and annihilate each other. Doing this releases all the energy in both substances which is forced out the back of the ship, pushing the ship forward. Since very minute amounts of Protons and Anti Protons are needed to push even massive vessels, this is by far the most common drive in the galaxy. Humans seem not to like this drive because they know better their gravity drives. Plasma Jet drive This drive uses supercharged particles of hydrogen thrown out through a jet nozzle. This drive can produce very powerful thrust for smaller ship and military grade vessels. First designed in the 2800’s, this engine was an improvement over the old compound Helium three fuel system. It was far more fuel efficient and a lot cheaper to run and maintain. Chemical thrust drive This is one of the oldest drives known to most species. Most species in the history of the universe who ventured into space developed some form of this drive. Human versions are currently the most widely used as they are cheap, used in offensive missiles, and used to redirect the course of many ships. These use simple physics princapals by blowing out chemical exhaust out one direction which pushes the ship in the other direction. These drives range from using gunpowder, helium three compounds, and mass ion expulsions. Hull Construction Life Support Command and Control Weapons and Defense Most ships have very little need for weapons, but all carry at least a little defense. Most cargo and passenger ships need to defend them selves against pirates or raiders. Plasma Cannons Plasma is the most energetic state of matter and using this energy, Plasma cannons can project large forces into the enemies hull and shields. Many species use plasma cannons including the Draz and the Dragons. Each species has their own specific was of generating the plasma, but they are all related, in principal. Basically, you gather a collection of particles, charge it with lots of energy and then project it out. Particle Beam Cannons A Particle Beam Cannon is a strait forward system based on an Ion engine. Using a highly concentrated laser to hold charged particles, mostly protons and neutrons, this weapon causes lots of damage with out causing a great deal kickback on the ship that fires it. These particles rip through the opponents hull and even through energy shielding systems. Fast shot Gattling cannons This cannon fires bullets rather then energy and they do cause kickback against the vessel. Many forms of gatt guns fire back counter shot to keep the ship or station in proper space. They are used to shoot down missiles and enemy fighter or bomber class craft. They are similar to missiles, but are not self powered. Some have exploding tips, others do not. Missile A Missile is a simple weapon. It is an engine, a guidance unit, and a war head all wrapped in one self guiding killing machine. These weapons are launched from ships, planets, or stations, and they strike out at great distances. They can be ballistic and have unlimited range. They can be armed with any sort of weapon. Hypermissile Hypermissiles are the next level of missiles. They can strike through hyper and because of that they can get in close with out countermeasures being taken. They are far more expensive, but the price is worth the destruction capability. Chemical warheads The oldest missile weapon in most species histories. All that you had to do was let the fuel explode and cause damage to your foe. Modern warheads include Helium 3 explosives, Nitroalc explosives, and the most common Ultramyte explosives. Nuclear Warheads Nuclear weapons are the result of using the power at the core of an atom. Either through fission, or fusion, or both. The amounts of this energy can be compared to a star, and the Dragons are known to have such weapons to dwarf stars in power. Force Projection Shields A force projection shield is a system that projects electromagnetic energy around the ship to create a literal force around the ship. These are used to deflect micrometeorites. More powerful units are used to hold off missile and beam attacks. Each attack on this shield causes reflect damage on the emitters as a small fraction of the energy flows back into them. This is reduced with bleed off units, but can not be completely overcome. Gravity shield Gravity is the effect of warped space. This is an effect that can be used to defend an area. If you warp the area around the ship, energy and weapons have a hard time getting to the ship. Gravity shields have their flaws, energy costs are highest among them. Gravity shields can be overcome with gravity warheads. |

Anyways, I believe that we will be able to travel through time in the future. I think that the "Aliens" that we've spotted are actually us from the future. I mean they do have human features, yeah? You know, like evolution? We've changed so much since we first started out as apes. |
