if the ship didn't fall apart, time would slow down for us and we'd basically be traveling into the future much quicker.
(of course our mass would be infinite and we'd need an infinite amount of power to get moving that fast) Einsteins theory of relativity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7vpw4AH8QQ&feature=related this dude, Ron Mallett is on his way to make a time machine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHC8z6ULs18 |

It is impossible as you say but as the speed of light is approached the dimensions only in the direction of travel contract such that the spaceship (including passengers) would become a pancake in the forward direction. However, occupants would not be aware of the contraction and everything would look normal to them. After arriving home after a long trip near the speed of ligh a passenger would be noticeable younger than his/her twin (especially if they had accurate calendar watches to compare). Thy passenger could also boast of having had almost infinite weight (mass) and an almost infinite weight reduction.

Time will slow relative to the Earth but on board time will appear normal for the travelers! Time will appear to speed up on board relative to Earth bound observers! I hope I have that correct! When they return to Earth they will find the Earth has progressed far into the future! Yet the travelers will have not experienced as much time progression!
