Default If I travel in time even by a day, won't I be standing in space?

In movies they show people staying stationary on earth, but the earth and sun are moving, so wouldn't time travel in either direction remove the tether of gravity because you'd have to stay stationary?

in order to know ,a person would have to carry out an experiment. Which at this time can't be done

This is one of the paradoxes of time travel. Another one is: If I go back in time and kill my father before I was born, would I suddenly cease to exist?

Hold on, let me jump in my time machine. I'll let you know later, or earlier.

if you have someone travel back in time to save the day, it would hardly support the story line if he dies as he rematerialises in space and then explodes, very anticlimactic.

if you travel back one day and stay in the exact same spot, and stay in the same position, you would see the earth revolve, and move away at 65.000 km/h (around the sun)

if you travel back in time by 6 months and stay in exactly teh same position, the earth would be 300 million kilometers away (other side of the solar system)

though if you beleive in einstein (not that he existed, but what he said was true) then you should be able to travel through space and time at the same time, since they are basically the same thing (spacetime). good luck landing in the same spot on the globe you left though.

You are absolutely correct! Everything is in motion an it would take a really good computer to calculate where you need to be placed in both space (dimentionally), and time. If calculated incorrectly, you'd definately wind up in space.

Cheers!

Its all relative.
If you could zoom out like in the moves and see the earth moving around the sun, the people aren't really stationary. It's just that their motion relative to the earth is very very small, so small the you can't notice it. Now if you could travel through time it would depend on your mode of time travel. Einstein suggested that if you could travel at the speed of light an x amount of distance away from the earth and returned you would in fact have traveled through time but you would have not been stationary. And second the gravitational forces on a body are not dependent on motion. If a body has mass it therefore takes up space and therefore has gravity.
It's all relative.
