My boss has gone to Brazil for a month and the travel agent told him he would get mugged AT LEAST once there?

I personally have never had any qualms travelling anywhere. What do you think of the information he has been given?

He'll get mugged if he's not smart about what he carries around with him. I lived in Brasil for quite some time and true, tourists get mugged sometimes...but only when they walk around with cameras all over them etc. Just tell him to be very alert...and don't flash his US Dollars around.

no true... just have to be carefull... i live in brazil(big city) for 4 years and never been mugged...

i went on vacation there with a friend.. 2 22 year old girls .. walkin the streets alone.. and we were fine .. hehe

It depends where he is going in Brazil. There are some bad places in Brazil that you will get mugged or shot. i would tell your boss to make sure and double check that he is going to a save place.

I just spent 9 days in Rio's Copacabana area. Your boss's traveI agent sounded like he/she was sidingg on the ultra cautious side. While in Rio, I did not go down small dark streets. Most restaurants and vendors were usually telling us to not go on to the beach after 2100. During the day there was a good presence of Policia Militar, Tourista Police, and Policia Federal.

violence is everywhere you can get mugged at any place, i live in Brazil right now and that has never happened to me

Rio can be dangerous, but I still think the agent's comment was stupid. I've been to Brazil many times and never been mugged.

He will be lucky to just get mugged and not killed.....
