Sadly, a lot of that work is volunter. I know because Its my dream job. If you can make money doing it, it wont be much. However, you can do research which you would be paid for doing. Consider a Biology or Marine Biology (some universities even offer zoology) degree. It's a competitive field so having a degree in a related subject will increase your chances. Oh, and don't worry, we're not going for the same job I'm in NY :) Best of luck.

I was just googling some ideas and I saw a couple of salaries for this.
The lowest I saw started at $27,000.. that's for full time. In New York which is where the aquarium I go to.. a keeper with years of experience was getting close to $40,000 a year. You should try to volunteer first and gain tons of experience and go to school and study a related field that would give you an edge of getting a job like this. Volunteers over here were starting at $7.15 and hour.. so it could be your minimum around where you live. |
