Well, just last week 3 Mexican fishermen were rescued; they were lost at sea nine months and nine days ago, left the port of San Blas, in the Mexican state of Nayarit, and were found near New Zealand, they survived on a diet of seagulls and fish, got fresh water from rain.

can't be done. i know if i try to drift across a lake i end up way differant than i think. you're liable to startfor china and end up in africa. think how bored you would get. if you caught fish and made drinking water i would suppose you could live out there for years. You'd need to!

There was an experiment done where some guys got together, built a raft out of wood from local trees and a sail made out of like an animal hide using tools available centuries ago. The raft was called the Aku Tiki or Kon Tiki or something Tiki. It took them like 3 months to sail across the Pacific.
Inuit folklore has stories of Eskimos kayaking not only all along the Aleutian Islands but even to Eastern Asia (i.e. Japan and China) by riding ocean swells and going with currents.
So, even without engines or modern technology, it is possible to traverse the Pacific.
