what is the distance from the Pacific Ocean to the Rocky Mts. and how do you figure it using a US atlas?

the atlas has a distance thing. like every inch is 500 miles and 300-something kilometers or w/e. then use a ruler to measure the number of inches, then multiply that by however many miles are in the inch

Get something wth a straigh line and use the scale on the map a pice of papre works well as you can mark it .
if you mean in he US thag isaverage it is aboput 1,000 miles from LA to Aspen at least by plane in a fairly straight line

The shortest distance in driving miles (not a straight line, but more practical) is about 500 miles from Vancouver B.C. to Banff N.P. in Canada. If you don't count Vancouver as on the Pacific, add another 100 miles. Most road atlases have a number of easy ways to get distances.

There are places where it's even closer, but not drivable there. In some places in British Columbia, the distance is just over 200 miles in a straight line.
