There were doubtless many Europeans who saw the Pacific Ocean, whose names have never been recorded. Early fur traders and trappers, for example, early prospectors and adventurers. One authenticated journey was that of Alexander McKenzie, who crossed North America, travelling from LaChine, Quebec, to what is now McKenzie's Rock, near Bella Coola, in British Columbia.
McKenzie's journey preceded Lewis and Clark by more than 10 years. |
