Well Seattle is a beautiful place, I love it there, but it's very very expensive. I wouldn't want to live in NC, not really my type of place. Florida is nice, very nice though. But if you had to choose over Seattle or Charlotte I'd pick Seattle. I wasn't really impressed with Charlotte.

IMO, it depends on your personal politcs. If you are from SFO or LAX areas, then you would probably feel more comfortable around the people around Seattle. (It's not called "the Left coast" for nothing.) If you are an Orange County conservative flying from an airport named after John Wayne, you might feel more at home in the state that elected noted homophobes Jesse Helms and Elizabeth Dole as senators.

Remember, you'll be living with the locals day in and out. I'm a liberal who lived briefly (thank goodness) in Jacksonville, FL and couldn't stand it, so I know.

Are you from southern california? do you love constant rain? it really depends, nw is sooo laid back. if your from bay area of southern california it's really different. just mellow, if your used a a large city that's centralized i'd pick seattle, which i love. northern washinton is awesome, plus you can treck to little islands all over, you have to go visit the san juans in the summer. and chinatown in BC is the coolest. hope that helps

Charlotte is hot as hell in the summer, and the humditiy is about 1000 percent. The south is still too southern for me, I spent 15 years in the mid-south as well as Asheville, N.C., my wife was born and raised in the south and we split from the southland. We moved to Portland, OR, almost two years ago from Asheville and we will never go back to the south to live. It sucks.

Don't listen to the rain blah, blah, blah. It rains as much in Portland as it does in Alabama. It isn't raining now, it is clear blue skies and 70 degrees. In the south? It's 90 and it feels like 100. We don't even own an air conditioner for our three bedroom house. we don't need it...nice, huh?

I'm from Portland and Vancouver, WA... and I now live in the South (Georgia). If you grew up on the West Coast, you should probably stay there. I am having a hard time adjusting to the South, and I'm having a hard time talking to people who think it's rude just because I didn't "Yes ma'am" them. The only plus side to the South is the food... mmmMMmmm!!!

Looks like you been accurately informed about people, weather and politics of the northwest. Whether or not you move; sometime in your lifetime you have to check out the Oregon and Washington coastlines. No picture or description can ever do them justice. Good Luck
