Default Are there many motels along the Pacific Coast Highway both north and south of San Francisco?

We want to drive at our leisure and just stop when we feel like it. What about driving into Oregon too? Thanks, Rich

The place is lousy with B & B's.

Nice romantic places that charge an arm and a leg. Friendly people that will give you lots of tips on what to see.

There are plenty of them. I've made that drive many times. I particularly like staying on the Oregon coast in various places. There is a place just south of Canon Beach, north of Tillamook, a really tiny town on the beach where we once just drove in and found a sign for an appartment to rent by the night. That was really nice, had a deck overlooking the ocean from up high. The view was just amazing, and of course we had a kitchen fully equipped so that was great. I think you find those types of places all over if you look around and ask when you get in to a town you think is interesting. Sorry I don't remember the name of the town exactly, but I'm sure you'll find lots of places.

There are a lot of motels along the entire length of CA1/US101 from California to Washington State. You should have no trouble stopping whenever you want, even in the smallest towns. Some useful links:

PCH is a beautiful route (one of the classic American road trips, like Highway 66 or the Appalachian Trail). I'm sure you'll enjoy it enormously.
