if an island 25 by 5 miles lifts 3 meters from an earthquake in south pacific,does it cause curents to shift.?

the cold deep water would go around the island and go to deeper water thus changeing directiom would it not.

The earthquake probably would. At least temporarily. The altered position of the island would probably not.

No it will not. The island was always there it has simply risen. A bit like a traffic island rising - the traffic flow would remain the same.

The tragedy is that it had probably the finest coral reef in the world and this is now above water and dead!

The rise of the island may have slightly changed minor currents around bays and headlands around the island but those will be extremely local and very minor in nature.
