Why is it so expensive to travel from the USA?

I have recently moved here from England to be with my fiance and as I love travelling I have been looking into vacations and trips! Everything is so expensive when it comes to travelling outside of the states! why is this? Even travelling within the states is high!

Because th RyanAir bunch are not allowed to fly in or from America.

Because everywhere outside of the USA has a wonderful landmark or just a lovely place. Well not everywhere.. But, USA loves to 'over-charge' things as well, you know how that goes. Well, take care.

Traveling is expensive no matter how you look at it. The USA is pretty big, so leaving it is hard enough. Since you're from England, you can imagine how it's less expensive to leave the country because there are a lot of close neighbors.

It's a cartel controlled by a few companies who conspire to keep their profits as high as possible, and since the airlines also own or control the airports then rivals can not enter the market easily.

Because it is assumed that Americans and people visiting the States have money to spend. Is it that much less to travel within Europe by plane. We also have to consider the security is heightened and that may cost more. And the distance of the flight is pretty far.

Americans have to pay more for everything because they are assumed to have the resources to pay more.
Air flights are dirt cheap by our standards in places like Mexico if you travel within Mexico but they are going to really sock it to you if you depart form the US.

To encourage travel and tourism, many european countries subsidize travel, including airline costs. So a flight from Brussels to Athens may only be 29 Euro. The Airlines in the US are not subsidized and therefore charge more to stay afloat. Some are even going out of business. It is an adjustment, just watch the deals and good luck. by the way, welcome.
